A better place is een poging om alle wereldproblemen op te lossen in één performance van zestig minuten. Ok, het lijkt ambitieus, maar waarom geven we kunst niet opnieuw de kans om de wereld te veranderen? We weten ondertussen wel dat de antwoorden niet van bovenaf, top-down komen, dus waarom niet de opkomende revolutie van onderuit omarmen?

A better place is de derde actie-performance waarin Davis Freeman en Jerry Killick reflecteren over hoe het is om in de wereld van vandaag te leven. (Actie niet in de ‘mep, mep, schiet, schiet, explosie’ betekenis, maar wel in de betekenis van sluwe politieke performances die de performers en het publiek aanmoedigen om actief een betere wereld te creëren.) Na Investment en 7 Promises, willen ze hun docu-performance label overstijgen. Freeman en Killick zullen ook onbekenden betrekken, die zich buiten de muren van de theaterzaal bevinden. Hierbij hebben ze een doel voor ogen, van de wereld a better place maken.

Davis Freeman is acteur, danser, regisseur en performer. Hij werkte met Forced Entertainment, Meg Stuart, Hans van den Broeck, Stephan Pucher en Superamas. In 2001 stichtte hij het gezelschap RANDOM SCREAM met Lilia Mestre.

A better place is an attempt to solve all of the world’s problems in one 60-minute performance. Yes it might seem ambitious, but why not let art again have a chance to change the world? Obviously we know the answers are not coming from the top down so why not embrace the rising revolution from the bottom up.

A better place will be the third piece of Davis Freeman and Jerry Killick’s action performances which reflect on what it’s like to live in the world today. (Action not in the punch punch, shoot shoot explosion sort of way, but politically devious interactive performances that incite the performers and audience to actively create a better world)  After Investment and 7 Promises, they strive to go beyond their docu-performance label and prove it’s possible to connect with strangers even beyond the theatre who are willing to help us make the world……. a better place.  

Davis Freeman is an actor, dancer, director and performer. He worked with Forced Entertainment, Meg Stuart, Hans van den Broeck, Stephan Pucher and the SUperamas. In 2001 he founded his own company RANDOM SCREAM with Lilia Mestre.
