Gebeurt dit echt? Wat is het? Hoe beschrijven wat er gebeurt als we niet weten wat het is? Welke ervaring geeft een voortdurende uiteenvallende ruimte ons?

Dit gebeurt nu.

Inzoomen op het tijdstip net voor het terreur, het ogenblikkelijke nu dat het volgende nu al anticipeert. Twee performers staan stil bij het moment juist voordat de dingen bepaald en (h)erkend worden. Hoe lang kunnen we verwijlen bij iets ongedefinieerd, iets dat nog niet benoemd werd?

Geïnspireerd door outcasts en verworpen vreemde lichamelijke substanties, richt deze voorstelling zich op alles wat in de schemerzone leeft . Lichamen, wezens, voorwerpen en communicatiecodes komen één voor één tevoorschijn en vormen samen een nieuw universum waar het verborgen ongedefinieerde resideert. Slogan voor Modern Times onderzoekt de angstaanjagende ruimte tussen het afstotende en het aantrekkelijke, of de aangename perversie die in elke mens huist.

De voorstelling appelleert vooral aan het gevoel voor humor omdat ze breekt met de mantra van de sérieux van postmoderne dans, met de sérieux van de Kunst. Hier wordt aangetoond dat goede levende Kunst, goede moderne dans ook geestig en amusant kan zijn. Het is een introductie als het ware: niet te missen, vooral voor de non-believers van moderne dans.

Is this really happening? What is it? How do we describe what is happening when we don’t know what it is? How do we experience a space that is constantly dismantling itself, now?

This is happening now.

Stressing the moment before the moment of terror, the now anticipating the following now, two performers insist on the very moment before name-ing and identifying. How long can we stay present with the unidentified something, before it is named?

This project explores possibilities of the unknown, and allows the audience to fantasize about other worlds, other meanings, and odd relationships in a seemingly perceptible scenario. What we perceive as true might never be its definitive limit. Inspired by outcasts and abject physicalities, the performance is a determinate expression of inbetweens. Bodies, beings, things and codes of communication emerge and create a suitable universe for the undefined viscera.
At length Slogan for Modern Times plays on the terrifying spaces in between the horrific and the appealing, the pleasureable and the perverted.
